Chin Liposuction

Surgical Aesthetics

With aging and weight fluctuations, fat can accumulate under the chin. In some cases, excess chin fat can be structural, regardless of age or weight. This can blur the transition between the chin and neck, negatively affecting facial aesthetics. In such cases, there are multiple treatment options, including neck lifts and chin augmentation surgery. One of the most important treatment options is chin liposuction.

What is the procedure?

Performed under local or general anesthesia in an operating room, the procedure takes about an hour. Approximately 5mm incisions are made in the lower crease of both earlobes and under the chin. These incisions provide access to all the subcutaneous fat in the chin area. Using special vacuum cannulas designed for this procedure, excess fat tissue is removed. The amount of fat removed from this area is significantly less than that removed from areas like the abdomen. Although the amount varies from person to person, approximately 30-50 cc of fat is aspirated.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Who is a suitable candidate for this procedure? What are the alternatives?

Anyone over 18 with stubborn chin fat is a suitable candidate for this procedure after a consultation. However, a consultation is essential. Sometimes, the fat in the chin area may be located under the muscle rather than under the skin. In such cases, deep plane neck lift is considered as an alternative to liposuction. In some cases, the cause of the double chin may be weakness in the chin bone. In such cases, chin augmentation or chin fillers may be considered. In short, it is impossible to determine the correct treatment without an examination.

Are the results permanent?

If the patient does not experience significant weight gain, the results are quite long-lasting.

What is the post-operative process like?

Discharge is usually planned for the same day. We recommend wearing a special corset continuously for 3 weeks and at night for 3 more weeks.

When will the final results be seen?

Slight swelling due to surgery is normal for the first 2 months, but the final result will be visible from the 6th month onwards as the surgical healing is complete.
